Yellow weather warning for rain, flood warning for Eyemouth Coastal area, warning of overtopping in coastal areas


Warning today, Tuesday 9 April, for high tides and possible overtopping in coastal areas.

  • Impact is expected around the time of high tide which will peak at 1542 hours. 
  • Barriers will be in place in Eyemouth harbour.
  • Drivers are requested to move vehicles from the beach slip end of the harbour at Eyemouth near the Cobblehouse.

    A combination of high tides and prevailing weather conditions means that flooding is possible from the sea. 

    Flooding is expected along the coastal frontage at Eyemouth. 

    There is a risk of waves overtopping the sea defences at Eyemouth. Businesses near to the harbour and vessels moored within the harbour may be at risk. 

    River levels will also be high due to rainfall overnight and today.

    Yellow weather warning for rain has been issued.

  • Warning of rain between Wednesday 10 April 0900 to 2200hours.
  • Rain may lead to some transport disruption, give yourself long
  • If you are travelling by car, please drive to the conditions and give yourself extra time. 
  • Check bus and train timetables with the providers for any change to their service.

    The warning area covers the Scottish Borders and Dumfries & Galloway.

    Rain will spread east across the warning area on Wednesday and be heavy at times over high ground. Accumulations of 20 to 30 mm are expected widely with 40 to 60 mm on high ground. Some flooding is possible following on from rain earlier in the week.
