Yellow weather warning for rain

The Met Office has a yellow weather warning for rain in place throughout Tuesday and into Wednesday which affects large parts of the Borders.

  • Warning runs from 9am on Tuesday to 8am on Wednesday
  • Warning area covers central and eastern Borders, including Galashiels, Selkirk and Hawick and all areas to the east of these
  • In some places up to 40mm of rain could fall, on already saturated ground
  • Be prepared for rain and flooding
  • More information

An area of rain arriving from the west early on Tuesday is expected to become slow-moving and persistent across the area, eventually clearing southeast in the early hours of Wednesday morning. Much of the warning area is expected to see 10-20 mm of rainfall during this time, and in some places, particularly east facing areas of higher ground, 30-40 mm is likely, which could lead to some flooding.

See the Met Office website for more information, including a map of the warning area.

Updates will be provided as required.
