Wind warning issued for Sunday


The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for wind for Sunday which affects the Scottish Borders.

  • Warning area covers whole of the region
  • Warning in place from 6am to 11.59pm on Sunday
  • Gusts of up to 60mph expected widely, with gusts of 70mph possible in exposed locations
  • Persistent rain also forecast
  • Be prepared for high winds

    A period of strong winds and persistent rainfall is expected across parts of the UK during Sunday. Whilst there is still some uncertainty as to the exact locations which will see the strongest winds, northern and western areas are likely to be most at risk. 

    Many inland areas are expected to see gusts of 50 - 60 mph during this period. Coasts and exposed locations could see gusts of 60 - 70 mph or even higher. 

    What should I do? Prepare to protect your property and people from injury. Check for loose items outside your home and plan how you could secure them. Items include; bins, garden furniture, trampolines, tents, sheds and fences.
