Met Office Yellow Warning for Thunderstorms

Dear Citizen
The Met Office have issued another 'Yellow Weather' warning for Thunderstorms for Wednesday 17th June, 1400 today until midnight. The SEPA  'Flood Alert' for the Scottish Borders area is still in place.

Warning & impact details
Please note; the warning effectively covers an ‘area at risk’, and the showers may come and go during the validity period.Yellow warning for thunderstorms, covering the western Borders. This is a similiar warning to yesterday.

A few places may see thunderstorms causing flooding and disruption.
  • Flooding of homes and businesses could happen quickly, with damage to some buildings from floodwater, lightning strikes, hail or strong winds
  • Where flooding or lightning strikes occur, there is a chance of delays and some cancellations to train and bus services
  • Spray and sudden flooding could lead to difficult driving conditions and some road closures
  • Some communities might become cut off if roads flood
  • Power cuts might occur and other services to some homes and businesses could be lost.
