Weather Warning for Heavy Rain

Alert message sent 17/08/2020 11:32:00

Information sent on behalf of Scottish Borders Council

Dear Citizen
Met Office Yellow Warning for Heavy Rain on Tuesday 18th August from 1pm until 9pm.

A mostly dry start however some heavy showers will develop during the afternoon – initially across southern Scotland and then gradually further north during the afternoon, however we are not expecting the heaviest showers to break out across northeastern Scotland. These will be more ‘typical’ summertime heavy showers and will be driven by daytime heating during the afternoon before dying away in the evening, and we are not expecting the extreme intensity and lightning that we saw last week. However the showers will be heavy and slow-moving in places with the potential for surface water flooding.

The warning details can be found on our website: https://www.metoffice.gov.uk/weather/warnings-and-advice/uk-warnings
