Alert message sent 20/02/2021 12:44:00

Information sent on behalf of Scottish Borders Council

Good Afternoon Citizen

There are currently seven SEPA flood warnings in place across the Scottish Borders.

These are:
Yarrow Valley
Tweedbank to Floors
Newcastleton Village
Hawick to Monteviot
Hawick (Teviot)
Ettrick Valley
Drumelzier to Dawyck
These have already had an impact on communities in Newcastleton, Hawick and the Ettrick and Yarrow Valleys.

The flood warnings are likely to remain in place and although river levels may drop during the day there is a high chance they will rise again later today, so please do not ignore them.

A Met Office yellow weather warning is in place today between noon and 11pm for western and central parts of the Borders.

This could result in more localised flooding, surface water on roads and has the potential to flood properties in at risk areas.

Please check the SEPA website for information, and to sign up for free flood alerts relevant to your property.

Details of sandbag stores can be found on the SBC website.

Looking ahead into next week, a yellow weather warning has been issued for the western side of the region from midnight on Tuesday through until 6pm on Wednesday.
